Foreign currency can be exchanged at commercial banks and at the various
Bureaux de Change.

Leaded and unleaded petrol and diesel are available at all petrol stations
throughout the country.

Saturdays 08:30 to 13:00
Sundays 09:00 to 1 4:00 (selected stores)
Many supermarkets and major clothing stores are open on Saturday afternoons
and Sunday mornings and have late trading hours on Fridays. General stores
called cafes, which supply basic requisites open from as early as 06:00
and close as late as 23:00.
Banks:
Weekdays 09:00 to 15:30 Saturdays 08:30 to 1 1:00
Most banks have Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)
which are open 24 hours a day for cash withdrawals and deposits.
Post Offices:

Stamps can be bought at many stationery shops and supermarkets. Private
companies offer many of the postal services supplied by the main post office
as well as courier and speed post services such as DHL, FedEx, UPS

Major hospitals have out-patients and casualty facilities for emergencies.
Visitors should arrange medical insurance before their arrival and are
responsible for their own medical needs. Doctors are listed under "Medical
Practitioners" in the telephone directory and Dentists
can be found under "Dentists".

Safety
The following general safety tips.
Please observe precautions:
- Always lock your car and activate the alarm
- Do not leave items visible in the car
- Beware of pickpockets
- Do not walk around the city alone at night
- Lock your car doors while driving in the city
- Do not accept lifts from or give lifts to strangers
Cape Town's CBD has been "blanketed" with surveillance cameras
which together with the deployment of additional security personnel, has
dramatically reduced crime within the city.

Standard Time
Two hours in advance of Greenwich Mean Time. One hour in advance of central

Tipping
It is customary to tip waiters, waitresses, wine stewards, taxi drivers,
porters and caddies. Depending on service, the amount should be around
10%. Petrol station attendants often anticipate a tip if they have gone
beyond just filling your tank.
Water
Tap water throughout the region is of a high standard, and is safe for
human consumption.
